How to Program a 4th Gen 4Runner Key Fob
What You Need:
- A compatible new key fob
- Your existing master key
Instructions:
1. Ensure all doors are unlocked and the driver's door is open. (The rest of the doors should remain closed.)
2. Insert and remove your key from the ignition twice. (Don't turn it - just in and out.)
3. Close and open the driver's door twice.
4. Insert and remove the key once.
5. Close and open the driver's door twice again.
6. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in.
7. Close the driver's door.
8. Turn the key to ON, then back to OFF.
9. Remove the key from the ignition.
10. Wait for the door locks to cycle (lock/unlock) once. This confirms you're in programming mode. If the locks cycle twice, something went wrong - start over.
11. On the new key fob, press Lock and Unlock simultaneously for about 2 seconds.
12. Immediately press Lock for 1 second.
13. The door locks should cycle again to confirm successful programming.
14. Repeat steps 11-13 for any additional remotes.
15. When finished, open the driver's door to exit programming mode
